The West Berkshire Countryside Society

The above link is to the website of the newly formed West Berkshire Countryside Society which has now taken over all the functions off the Pang, Kennet and Lambourn Valleys Countryside Projects and the Friends of the Pang. It contains current events and topics and a copy of "Upstream", the Society's quarterly Newsletter. (see below).

PLEASE NOTE The organisation of the Countryside Projects has now undergone extensive change as from November 2011. This was resolved at an Exraordinary General Meeting held on 19th January 2012 in the Upper Bucklebury Memorial Hall for discussion on the full details and plans for the immediate future.

The new Society combines the functions and activities of the following groups: The Friends of The Pang, Kennet and Lambourne Valleys; the Pang Valley Conservation Volunteers: The bucklbury Heathlands Conservation Group and The Barn Owl Group. Further work is underway to secure the scope of the original Conservation Group so that it will continue its work as a link to the countryside, the people , water quality and river habitats and including the following:

  • Habitat and landscape management
  • Farm and parish conservation plans
  • Environmental education
  • Conservation grants
  • Volunteer conservation work
  • Guided walks, talks and training events

The quarterly newsletter for the Pang and Kennet projects combined is "UPSTREAM" will continue for the Society as before..
