Comment

The Rainfall for January is 3 times the January average. It is also 25% of the average for the whole year.

This very heavy monthly total follows a very wet autumn. The last 3 months of 2013 had 295.9 mm (11.6") which is 29% above average. The 4 months from October to January was 489.0mm which is 35% higher than average for this period.

Let us hope it stops raining soon.

Meanwhile the new Flood Defences for Bucklebury Village are performing extremely well with only a little intermittent overflow from the Pang actually running in the swale and all houses fully protected.

Observation: the dry first quarter this year 1912h was only 52% of average followed two consecutive years where the annual rainfall was 74% and 77% below average
suggested a possible water shortage and led to a hose pipe ban until June. The total rainfall for the year then caught up by the end of April (the wettest April since 2000).
A dry May has now been followed by an extremely wet June (over 3 times wetter than the Bucklebury 18yr average ( 29 pts wetter than 2007 131.9pts - the wettest n 18 years)
so the total for the first 6 months of the year is now 26% higher than average.
