THIS SECTION NOW COVERS THE BIRTH OF PRINCE GEORGE, JULY 2013, AND PRINCESS CHARLOTTE, MAY 2015, WHICH SUPERCEDE THE ARTICLES SHOWN BELOW ON THE ROYAL WEDDING 2011

BIRTH OF A NEW PRINCESS, MAY 2015 and Commemorative Mugs

Princes Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born on 2nd May. Everyone delighted that we have a Princess to keep Prince George happy !
The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge went from St Mary's Hospital, Paddington to Kensington Palace and two days later journeyed up to Sandringham where they will stay in their house on the Estate. Sadly this means we probably shall not see them here in the Village as we did with Prince George. We all wish Kate and the baby all possible good fortune.

In memory of the occasion, we have arranged to produce a unique issue of 500 commemorative Mugs, most of which are for sale as shown in the graphic below. Please telephone if you wish to reserve any.

IT IS TO THE BOOT INN WHERE CATHERINE'S PARENTS OFTEN GO AND WHERE PRINCE WILLIAM AND KATE ARE OCCASIONALLY SEEN. THERE WILL CERTAINLY BE MUCH DISCUSSION ABOUT A SUITABLE PARISH MEMORIAL FOR THE OCCASION - PERHAPS ANOTHER LINE OF OAKS TO JOIN THOSE PLANTED SOME 500 YEARS AGO TO MARK THE CORONATION OF QUEEN ELIZABETH 1st.

AFTER THE ROYAL BABY HAS ARRIVED IN BUCKLEBURY, THE BELLS OF St MARY THE VIRGIN, THE 1000 YR OLD PARISH CHURCH, WILL RING OUT IN A SPECIALLY COMPOSED MAJOR PEAL OF EIGHT BELLS TO WELCOME HIM AND TO MARK THE OCCASION. SUCH PEALS HAVE A WRITTEN RECORD FOR FUTURE POSTERITY.

Bucklebury’s own Royal Wedding mug goes into production this week

Probably one of the most sought after - and rare - Royal Wedding mementos goes into production at the historic Emma Bridgewater factory this week (Monday April 11th).

Bride-to-be Kate Middleton’s home village of Bucklebury has commissioned the Staffordshire-based pottery company to design and make their very own commemorative mug.

The village is giving each child in the parish a commemorative mug and then putting the rest of the ‘baby mug’ and ‘half-pint’ design mugs on sale on the day of the Royal Wedding. They’ll be sold at the village’s own Royal Wedding Day celebration event on April 29th at Bucklebury Farm Park.

Demand for the sponge painted hand-decorated mugs, with an initial production run of just 500, is expected to be high among collectors of the stylish brand, as well as Royal collectors and villagers.

The mug, created by Matthew Rice combines the village’s emblem of an oak leaf with a ‘Kate and William’ design and will be priced at £13.95 plus postage and packing for the half pint and £9.95 plus postage and packing for the baby mug.

As well as being on sale at the village’s ticket-only Royal Wedding Day celebration “Tea In The Park” at Bucklebury Farm Park, orders can be placed for the special Bucklebury commemorative mugs by email to buckleburyevents@gmail.com quoting the number and size of mugs required.

Wynne Frankum, a member of the Bucklebury Village Events planning team and chairman of Bucklebury Parish Council said: “The wedding of Catherine Middleton and Prince William is a very special day in the history of the village and we wanted to commission something for the children of the parish that might in time become a collectors’ piece. We also wanted something that reflected a rural parish and so we approached Emma Bridgewater and were thrilled when her team agreed to help us – we are delighted with the result. ”
